The old College of Piarists

Worth seeing.

The old College of Piarists was established in the first half of the 18th century. Monks were brought to Chełm in 1667 by bishop suffragan of Chełm Mikołaj Świrski. After the dissolution of the order a Russian Male Secondary School was placed there, and, during the interwar period, a town hall and the offices of the district authorities. Nowadays the building is owned by the parish and Chełm's Museum. One can find here the management of the post and the "Gallery 72", where one can see the modern Constructivism paintings. The Chełm's collection of the unique art are rated to the greatest in Europe.
