The Biebrza area is also interesing for its history and coulture which is reflected by numerous folk-craft and ecology events. The Biebrza Haymaking hosts competitors from all over Poland. The goal of the competition is to scythe 100 meters of a meadow as quickly and thoroughly as possible. The event is held not only for fun but it serves ecological purposes. If the grass was not cut and overgrew, it would put bird's nesting areas in danger.
